About Me

I grew up in Pasadena on a wonderful street full of children.  Playing baseball or pickle in our front yard was a daily event.  Summer nights included Kick the Can or Ditch 'em games.  I attended UC Irvine, where I met my husband, Kekoa, a civil engineer.  We just celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary in August. I began teaching at Smith in 1993.  I taught the fourth-grade GATE class for fifteen years (job-sharing with Mrs. Garland for ten of them) and have taught 5th grade, 1st grade, and two 3/4 combination classes in addition to 3rd-grade GATE for ten years. I have also been a Smith parent as my daughters Madeline (26 years), Meredith (24 years), and Ella (19 years) all attended Smith.  Ella is a sophmore at the University of Utah majoring in Environmental Science major, Meredith graduated from CU Boulder in 2022 with a degree in Psychology, and Madeline graduated from UCLA in 2019 with a degree in Business Economics. My family has one cat named Tess and an eight-year-old yellow English lab named Maisie.

If I have free time, I enjoy golfing, jogging or walking along the coast, traveling, watching movies, and reading.
